Muslim Women’s Enterprise Network
FaithAction
FaithAction, initially funded by the OTS and currently funded by the Department of Health, is a national network that acts as the voice of faith and community organisations delivering public services. FaithAction has been developed as a partnership between three leading faith-based organisations – LifeLine, Faithworks and Faith Regen Foundation. Through a national staff team and nine regional offices FaithAction aims to bring together and represent grassroots organisations that are delivering or seeking to deliver public services. It will help them access funds, deliver contracts and create more effective partnerships with the government and is motivated by a belief in the need to increase public service delivery by faith-based and community organisations.
Muslim Women’s Enterprise Network
The Muslim Women’s Enterprise Network was launched by FRF in March 08 and was attended by keynotes speakers such as Baroness Pola Uddin, Nahid Majid (DWP) and Dr Husna Ahmad (FRF). There were live performances by Nusaiba Mohamad and Rahnuma Khan who sang Islamic songs and recited verses from the Holy Quran. Skilled members of the network facilitated henna, reflexology and make-up workshops. The network has been received with great enthusiasm by over 130 female entrepreneurs who have embraced this culturally and religiously sensitive service.
FRF is grateful to Business Link London for its financial contribution to initiate this Network.
We hope to secure further funding so that the network can offer its members a platform for business support, training and advertising tailored to meet the needs of the individuals. It will address issues such as business start ups, business plans, mentoring, specific training courses and confidence building workshops.
Through this network we aim to pioneer and promote the concept of Muslim women in business. Starting an enterprise is an important way for women to gain financial independence but also provides the flexibility to allow them to maintain their family commitments.
